What we collect, and what we do not
Privacy
The check runs inside your browser. Your route, your airline, your date and how late you were are never sent to us, because there is nowhere for them to be sent.
Your flight details
Everything the check needs is worked out on your own device. The rules, the airport coordinates, the distance calculation and the letter template are all part of the page you have already downloaded. There is no API call, no server that sees your answers, and no database.
This is not a policy decision we could quietly reverse. It is how the site is built. If you want to confirm it, open your browser’s network tab and run a check. Nothing leaves.
What we do count
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to know whether anyone is using the site and whether it loads quickly. Between them they record the page you landed on, the site that referred you, your country, whether you are on a phone or a desktop, and how fast the page rendered. No name, no email, no account, no advertising identifier.
We also count six moments in the process: a check was run, a result was shown, a letter was opened, a letter was copied, a letter was printed, and the link to a claim service was followed. Each of those is recorded as a bare count and nothing else. We deliberately do not attach your route, your airline, or even whether the answer came out in your favour, because all of those are derived from what you typed, and sending them would make the sentence at the top of this page false.
What that gives us is how many people arrived and how many reached a letter. What it cannot give us, or anyone else, is anything about your particular flight.
Cookies
CheckMyDelay sets none. Nothing is written to cookies, local storage or session storage by this site, which is why there is no consent banner: there is nothing to consent to.
The one exception is a single local-storage entry, cmd-theme, written only when you choose light or dark with the theme control, and removed again when you choose system. It holds that one word and nothing else, never leaves your browser, and needs no consent because you asked for it.
One caveat, because it is true and you could check it yourself. This site currently runs on a subdomain shared with other projects of ours, and a cookie set by one of those on the parent domain is technically visible to pages here. We do not read it and it plays no part in anything described above.
The letter
The letter is written in your browser from the answers you gave. Copying it puts it on your clipboard, and printing it sends it to your printer or your PDF writer. We never see it, never store it, and could not produce a copy of yours if you asked. When you close the tab it is gone.
The link to a claim service
The result screen offers a paid claim service as the second option, and we earn a commission if you use it. Following that link takes you to a different company with its own privacy policy and its own cookies, and what happens after you arrive is between you and them. On our side we record only that the link was clicked, without anything about you or your flight attached.
You can read our reasoning on that arrangement in the guide on claim services.
Hosting
The site is served by Vercel, which keeps ordinary server logs of requests, including IP addresses, for a short period in order to run the service and defend it from abuse. That is a normal function of any web host and applies to every site you visit, including this one.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask any organisation what personal data it holds on you and require it to be corrected or deleted. In our case the answer is that we hold none. There is no account to close, no mailing list to leave, and no record of your flight to erase, because none was ever created.
Changes
If this ever stops being accurate, because the site gains an account system or starts sending your answers anywhere, this page changes first and the date below changes with it.
